The CHQ is flooded with huge number of phone calls from GDS employees about the proposal of payment of adhoc quantum of arrears before 31st March 2009. Our enquiries go to show that in the Conciliation meeting held on 17th March 2009 between the Labor Commissioner and the AIPEDU, it was said that the department may consider payment of arrears up to 40% before 31st March, 2009.
As for as our knowledge goes the department had not forwarded any proposal mentioned above to the Ministry of Finance till today. Further permission from the Election Commission is mandatory before effecting payment. In view of this, we feel that there is no possibility for payment of any arrears before 31st March 2009.
We were told that the file is now with our Hon'ble Minister.
